Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Mission Statement:
We at Squash Haven learn and grow from and with others, and our commitment to an active, dynamic, and ongoing process of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion flows from our core community values: Optimism - Grit - Initiative - Curiosity - Self-Control - Gratitude - Integrity.
We commit to an honest reckoning with how our society - and more specifically, our educational and squash communities - are designed and function in ways that privilege some and restrict opportunities and outcomes for others on the basis of race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, or immigration status. We commit to doing all that we can to provide individual opportunities to our students and to address institutionalized inequality at Squash Haven and in the broader society in which we live. We also commit to creating a Squash Haven that celebrates the voices, experiences, and backgrounds of our students and their families. By doing so, we hope to make Squash Haven a place where students experience joy and freedom.
We are deeply committed to this work of centering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in our efforts in the classroom, on the court, in the office, in the Squash Haven board room, and in the community. The ongoing process of building a more inclusive and equitable Squash Haven means working with a coalition of various constituencies across our program: staff, board members, volunteers, and most importantly, our students and their families, whose voices should and will be at the forefront of these conversations. We are ready to listen, learn, and grow as we move forward together.
