The Board

Alec Arader practiced judo at Yale under Insoo Hwang in the last century and finds breakfall technique useful for squash to this day. He got his MBA from Wharton in 1982 and worked for E.F. Hutton in NYC for six years. He now owns and operates a mortgage banking firm in Connecticut and has enthusiastically supported women's squash, US teams, and growth of the game.

Sharyar Aziz is a Managing Director at UBS Investment Bank. He received his BA from Yale College and MBA from Harvard University. Mr. Aziz is President of Skillman Associates.

David Barrett is the Managing Partner of David Barrett Partners. He is currently on the Board of Skillman Associates and is a past Vice President and member of the Executive Committee of US Squash. Mr. Barrett received his BA from Yale, where he was a member of the varsity squash team, in 1981 and received his MBA from Columbia University in 1985.

Eric Berger, MD is a psychiatrist in private practice in New Haven. He also works at the CT Mental Health Center and is a member of Yale's clinical faculty. Eric graduated from Yale in 1966, New York University School of Medicine in 1971, and the Yale Psychiatry Residency Program in 1976.

Robert L. Berner III is a partner at CVC Capital Partners. Mr. Berner holds a B.B.A. (‘83) with a major in finance from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. (‘86) from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, where he currently sits on the Alumni Board of Advisors. He is on the Board of Directors of Watsco (NYSE) and Youth, I.N.C., a non-profit in New York. Mr. Berner and his wife have five children and live in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Tim Ford is a Senior Associate Athletic Director at Yale University whose primary responsibilities include Development, Alumni Affairs, and Community Outreach. He graduated from Siena College in 1990 and received his Master’s in Education and Sport Management from Springfield College in 1993.

Bob Gould is a partner of the banking firm Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. He received a BS degree from Yale in 1981 and a Masters in Business Administration from NYU Stern in 1987.

Cynthia H Kempner is Director of Development for Squash Haven. She graduated from Yale University in 1979 and received her MBA from Boston College School of Management in 1983.

Charlie Kingsley is a partner in the law firm of Wiggin and Dana, where he has practiced since his graduation from Harvard Law School in 1962. He is a past President of the United States Squash Racquets Association and from 2001 to 2007 was the President of the Skillman Associates.

Rebecca Martin is the Director of the Ivy Learning Center and a college admissions counselor. She received her BA from Barnard College in 1990 and her MPH from Boston University in 1995.

Dave Talbott is the Director of Squash at Yale, where he has led the Bulldogs to national championships in 1989 (men), 1990 (men), and 2004 (women). Prior to his arrival at Yale, Talbott was a professional squash player ranked as high as 12th in North America; he also served as secretary for the World Professional Squash Association.

Michael Van Leesten is Director of Breakthrough New Haven and a math teacher at Hopkins School. Prior to his career in teaching, Michael held a variety of positions in the financial services industry, including Vice President/Chief Financial Officer of the Construction Division at Travelers Property Casualty Corp. and Vice President in the Fixed Income Division of Goldman Sachs & Co. Michael graduated from Dartmouth College with majors in English and Economics and he earned his M.B.A. from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He currently serves on the boards of several organizations including: Clifford Beers Guidance Clinic, Elm City Shakespeare Company, and Community Action Agency of New Haven.

Ann Vinci practiced law for over 25 years before retiring from the New York office of Jones, Day in 2004. She graduated from Cornell University in 1974 and received her JD from Fordham in 1977. Ann’s daughter Kaitlin is a sophomore on the Yale team; her son Andrew played for the team and graduated in 2006.

Annick Winokur is the founder of Sportsometry, a non-profit entity which uses squash and basketball to improve students’ understanding of math and physics concepts. Annick is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and a former Director of the Brady Squash Center at Yale.

Herbert S. Winokur, Jr. is Chairman and CEO of Capricorn Holdings, inc., an investment firm, and serves as Chairman of Squash Haven, Inc. He received his PhD and undergraduate degrees from Harvard, the former in 1967.
