What is Squash?Squash is an indoor racquet sport played in over 150 countries around the world. In the United States it is played primarily in urban centers, at squash and other health and racquet clubs, and at private schools and universities. In learning the game, Squash Haven students are introduced to a sport they can enjoy throughout their lives. Squash is played with a racquet and a hollow ball in a four-walled court. To start a point, one player serves by playing the ball above a line on the front wall into the receiver’s box. The players then alternate hitting the ball against the front wall by playing the ball out of the air or off one bounce until a player is unable to return a shot or makes a mistake. To be considered 'good', the ball must reach the front wall below the 'out' line and above the 'tin', before touching the floor. With the exception of the men’s professional tour, squash matches are typically best of five games with each game being scored to nine and points only being scored by the server. |
