Meet Patel is a rising 7th grade student who attends East Rock Middle School, in New Haven, CT. Meet is in his second year here at Squash Haven. Here’s a little bit about his time at Squash Haven.
Meet is a hardworking and dedicated student here at Squash Haven. Meet joined Squash Haven back in 2016 as a 5th grader. Since then, he as grown in squash and in the classroom. Since his first day at Squash Haven, he has been a wonderful addition not only to the program itself, but in the classroom, constantly participating and on the courts, pushing his limits to become a better squash player. Meet joined the team because he had heard from his older brother that when joining the program, Squash Haven helps/gives you many opportunities to go places; play in tournaments, visit schools (both boarding schools and colleges), and meet new people around the country. He also says that he wanted the help that Squash Haven would provide when it came to his academics, i.e., improving his grades and leading him in the right direction to be the best student he can be.
On the courts, Meet works extremely hard during his 6th grade practices. He is always incorporating and applying what his coaches teach him on the court to improve his Squash game and skills. While Meet is always finding ways to improve on the court, off the court, he is an academic achiever. Meet has worked hard all year long in school and has been named to the honor roll every marking period. Meet is extremely participatory in class and always steps in class discussions. Additionally, Meet is consistent in his performance in enrichment, homework, planners and tests and quizzes. This performance sets Meet up to do extremely well in high school, college and in life.
One of Meet's favorite memories here at Squash Haven was this past Teams Individuals. He says it’s one of his favorite memories because he became closer to his teammates and saw how hard each one of them worked together to try and win their matches. Even though they placed 3rd in his division, he enjoyed seeing the cheering and encouragement his teammates showed to bring the energy high when competing with their opponents.
Meet also states that Squash Haven has helped him in his academics to exceed efficiently, in which is displayed in his grades, which helps him to reach his goal of attending UCONN, and how to stay healthy with providing healthy snacks and guiding him to choosing healthy snacks. Besides staying healthy he also says Squash Haven has guided him in not only becoming a better student and squash player, but to become a better person in life.
